In Austria, 8,264 new coronavirus infections have been registered in 24 hours. According to Wednesday’s AGES update, this is the highest figure since August 2.
There were 927 people in the hospital on Wednesday morning, 66 fewer than were reported the previous day but 22 more than a week ago. Fifty-seven people are being cared for in intensive care units, down seven from Tuesday but up three from a week ago.

The positive test results are above the seven-day average of 5,621 new infections. The seven-day incidence increased from 414 to 436 cases per 100,000 population daily. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 20,690 lives in Austria. One reported death was added the previous day.
Several Corona infections are on the rise again.
The increase in reported Corona infections over the past two weeks has led to a slight increase in hospital admissions. That trend in hospitals is expected to continue, according to Wednesday’s Covid forecast. In two weeks, modelers hope to see more than 1,000 infected people in regular wards again, up from 929 (yesterday) Tuesday.
